An undergraduate of Florida State University, Annette earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with minors in Journalism and Psychology. She later went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Journalism at Florida International University with a concentration in English while also taking graduate classes at the University of Miami. She got her start in TV as an undergrad and worked as news producer, who ended up hosting a show on PBS television in Miami. After moving to Atlanta, GA, Annette began a promising career in print journalism as a reporter and editor, including a post as editor-in-chief of the Atlanta Business Journal. She taught English, communication and journalism courses at Miami-Dade College, Atlanta Metropolitan College and at Georgia State University for more than eight years. At GSU, she was a favorite among students and received various teaching honors, including becoming a candidate for the National Collegiate Scholar Faculty of the Year.
Ever ambitious and independent, she launched Allwrite Advertising and Publishing (now Allwrite Communications, Inc.) in 1995. The company began full-scale operations in Atlanta in 2003 and has published several critically-acclaimed and commercially successful books. The company began publishing a national women’s magazine, HERS, in June 2014, and Annette served as editor-in-chief. The magazine has been featured on Bravo’s “Married to Medicine” and highlighted female celebrities, professionals and athletes. A meticulous editor, poignant writer and rousing columnist, Annette retains her literary edge by writing columns, screenplays, and her own books, including “What’s Your Motivation?” To inspire the love for writing and literature in underprivileged youth, she founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit “Allwrite Community Partners” in 2018. Meanwhile, she continues to act as a marketing and publishing consultant for emergent and established brands, such as the Better Business Bureau.
